Methanol Rectification and Glycerin Purification
EMi Group 's commitment on the construction of Biodiesel plants is based on a very specialized technical knowledge of the Biofuels production processes; in this article you will find a more detailed understanding about the process of Methanol Rectification and Glycerin Purification.
Methanol Rectification
The methanol coming from the upstream process units is fed to the rectification column.
The methanol is recycled to reactor loop circuits.
Glycerin Purification and Concentration
Raw Glycerin Purification - Soap Splitting
The purpose of this section is the acidification of the raw glycerin stream, in order to neutralize the residual catalyst and to split the soaps formed during transesterification. Subsequently, the fatty acids derived from soap splitting are separated and the pH of the purified glycerin is finally adjusted.
The neutralized glycerin stream coming from the neutralization is sent to the next step to remove the residual methanol still present.
Glycerin Purification - Methanol Separation
The neutralized glycerin stream coming from the soaps splitting section is sent to the methanol flash distillation circuit.
